Dr. Imfeld has been treating patients in the Central Florida area since 1991. He specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or Physiatry. A physiatrist is a little-known alternative to an orthopedic surgeon. They focus on the nonsurgical treatment of people who experience pain, especially lower back pain, and injuries from sports or accidents.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Imfeld received his M.D. from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, now called the University of Toledo College of Medicine. He completed his specialty training residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He has been Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1992. He has been Board Certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine since 1993. He is one of only a few physicians in Central Florida who have this certification.
A balanced life is important to Dr. Imfeld, not only for himself, but also for his patients. He specialized in physiatry to help achieve that balance. “I wanted the ability to help folks and still be able to spend time with my wife and kids,” he says. Dr. Imfeld was very involved in his children’s schools and sports activities before they left for college.
He continues to be an Ohio State Buckeye fan but is a Gator “by tuition”, as all three of his children graduated from the University of Florida. He enjoys riding his bike , playing tennis and playing pickle ball.
